CONSORZIO LAGHI E NURAGHI
The Consorzio Turistico dei Laghi is in Sardinia, you can find it in the centre of Sardinia.
It was founded in 1997 as a project to develop and to promote this part of Sardinia called Sarcidano Barbagia di Seulo.
The project involves 11 small communities (elenco dei comuni) and different tourist structures like restaurants, hotels and ethnographic museums. This territory is very characteristic because it has three of the most important lakes of Sardinia, Flumendosa, Mulargia and Is Barroccus, that make the landscape unique and suggestive.
The Consorzio is situated near the main ports and airports of Sardinia, we also guarantee a professional bus service. This part of Sardinia offers an alternative to the usual seaside tourism. we offer you wonderful trips, for example: a lake tour on board of our characteristic boat or suggestive tours that will let you explore the territory around the lakes were you can find caves (in Sadali), waterfalls (su stampu de su turnu); so we organize excursions and sports activities like trekking, canoeing, horse-riding, rock climbing and cycle tourism.
Furthermore, we organize food and wine tours to show you typical local products and also to discover the foods-processing especially pasta and the baking – process of bread. We organize historical and cultural tours that show the most important archeological sites, to let yo
u discover the well-known “nuraghi”. The nuraghe is a characteristic stone tower, it is a megalithic structure made of large coarsely worked stone.
Sardinia is famous for its nuraghes and when we talk about nuragic-history, we refer to the dawn of the Bronze Age, which was around four thousand years ago. In Sardinia there are more than 7000 nuraghes and we’ ve got one of the biggest nuraghe composed by 5 towers (penta- lobato) called “nuraghe Arrubiu” . its name in Sardinian language means (red) for the characteristic red plant that covers up its surface.
Furthermore you can visit nuragic villages and shrines, admire menhirs (an upright monumental stone), domus de janas ( the traditional “fairy houses”), giants tombs and the sacred wells linked to the worship of water. There are different small hotels like Janas Village, Istellas and Omu Axiu. They are typical and characteristic historic buildings converted into hotels where you’ll be able to experience a total fusion of nature, tradition and local culture.
